November is a month for Awareness

November is Alzheimer's Awareness month; in addition it is also National Caregiver's Month and National Hospice Month which makes sense since they all tie in together.  Although somewhat different meanings, they share the purple ribbon; for  Alzheimer's the purple ribbon means combining the calm stability of blue and the passionate energy of red. Purple makes a statement about our Association and our supporters: we are strong and unrelenting in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.”

For Hospice: recognizing the strength and compassion of the professionals and volunteers who help people live with dignity, comfort and support at the end of life. Its designated color purple is associated with spirituality, the sacred, higher self and passion.

For Caregivers: emphasizing the huge amount of care given;  the heart is the foundation of love and compassion from which care is molded, created, and offered.

There is help for those who have illnesses of the brain including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's as well as for their caregivers;  our group meets in St David at the Holy Trinity Monastery the first and third Thursday of each month to support those on this journey.
