Mental Health Awareness

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.

In the 1800s, green was the color used to label people who were considered insane; however, today the color green is thought to relieve stress, affect positive thinking and help heal our physical health.

Be mindful of your mental health and find ways to incorporate the green into your life by taking a walk and notice the different shades of green (or other colors) or simply wear something green to lift your mood.  Additionally, be kind to others, we may not know what they are going through and may need your kindness to help their mental health.
